Realization

Yesterday after some wonderful comments on my blog I realized that I had changed since the beginning of my journey. As always life takes over, things get in the way, and emotions can get the best of you. The missing piece is my support system. When I first started I was involved in teams, I read articles, I blogged and read other blogs. I also prayed to God for help through this journey. Yesterday I started over again. It did feel good to learn new ideas from the sparkpeople articles and also see that others are going through the same thing as I am and how they deal with it. I can also learn how others are achieving their goals. I need to take this one day at a time and not get frustrated if I make a bad food choice, or not exercise, or not see results on the scale. Those things will come with consistency and consistency will come from my support system.

I was at a Breast Cancer Support group last night. We did very little discussing breast cancer but talked about issues with our daughters and families. It was interesting that several of us have similar issues with daughters. They are too busy when we want to visit or need support but they get very angry when we have to set boundaries and take care of ourselves. They are used to their mothers being there and jumping to meet their needs. Diagnosis of any cancer is life changing and rearranges your priorities, especially in the beginning with doctor appointments, decisions, surgeries and treatments. I told my children and my husband that this year I am taking care of me. I don't mean to be selfish, but in order to continue helping them, I need to focus on healing and changing my lifestyle to be a better and healthier person.

Glad you made the decision to start over. Just remember, baby steps. Like learning to roll over, crawl, walk, run, jump, skip and ride a bike. You may have some falls, but be determined to get back up and try again and again, as many times as it takes to get the results and goals you have set for yourself.
