Sleep is so Precious

Monday, May 30, 2011

I slept a full 8 hours last night! emoticon I got up once to use the bathroom...and weighed myself...just to see if it would be different. And it was...2 pounds more lost in 4 hours. I think that is just amazing!! All these years of not sleeping well...have sure not helped me lose any weight!! I don't hurt and I am not even hungry this morning. Amazing!! I never put the two together either. emoticon When I tell someone how I am losing weight...I always add that I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night, because sleep restores the body and helps you lose weight...I add. Some people don't believe me. Oh well, their gain...not mine! Cause I am losing!!

My friend's daughter had a severe anxiety attack and had to go to the hospital yesterday. She is down from Great Falls to see her Mom. Linda called me crying, so I went over. We talked and ate while she was at the hospital. She was so bad she was having trouble breathing. They gave her some medication in her vein and a prescription and she was back within 2 hours. She is bi-polar...but I don't think she has ever had an attack this bad. She was scared as was the rest of the family. Linda felt bad that she didn't go to the hospital...but she is having major trouble getting around...because she doesn't have surgery until June 9th now and has been off her glucosamine and condriton for 2 weeks already. Her knees get so stiff and it doesn't help with all the rain we have been having lately. I know I hurt more when it is cold and wet...can just imagine how she hurts. emoticon

emoticon More rain forecast for today. I didn't even watch the news last night...so not sure if the forecast is same...but we were under a severe flood warning according to the Weather Channel forecast on my computer desktop. It is only 44 degrees right now. Chilly...but not to bad. My sisters in Wisconsin went to the lake for the weekend...on Saturday it was 65 degrees at Shell Lake. I don't think they are camping. They stay at a motel in the area when they go up to the lake. And not sure if they were staying all weekend or not. Guess it is suppose to be the beginning of the summer season. emoticon You wouldn't know it by our temperatures...but that is okay as I don't have my air conditioner yet. I am still waiting!!! I know it is quite a job. They have to cut a hole in the wall and it is concrete. Not an easy job. But they did it for Linda and they have done it on lots of apt. in the complex. Then they encase it in wood and put the air conditioner in the shelve. The corner they are going to put it in is all ready for them to come start work...when they do!!

I did well yesterday on my food tracker. I was under my carbs, fat, calories...I met my protein goal. I was over on everything on Saturday. It usually evens out...by the time the week is over. I do better when I put it in the food tracker and can actually see how many calories I have for the day...then I don't go over...cause I know before I eat anything else at my 7 pm snack. Yes, I eat after 7 pm. I have read and have learned just because you eat after 7 pm doesn't mean it turns to fat. You metabolize the same all day long...so if you exercise and your metabolizing your food good...it will metabolize the same all day long. So I will continue to eat snacks...all day long...some you might call a mini meal. I eat every 3-4 hours during the day. There is no way I could get the required calories and fat it I didn't. I am using the Diabetes Prevention Plan's weight loss plan and then I supplement with help from Spark People website. I find that if I get my required 2000 calories and close to 55 grams of fat...I lose weight. Now..there are a lot of people who are going to say that is too many calories...well...it is working for me!! Having lost 35 pounds since February and eating that much every day...I think the dietician is right. Some people may not lose eating that much, but I was morbidly obese...over 250 pounds when I started. And I am really only suppose to lose 1-2 pounds a week. It is coming off faster for me. And I have my fitness assessment on Tuesday, June 1st, so we will see what the inches and body fat look like then. I will let you know...because I know I did well! You don't lose 35 pounds...without losing some inches and gaining some flexibility. I can do exercises in the pool that I wasn't able to do before...and I can bike for 3 miles in under 20 minutes...that may not seem fast for some people..but it is for me. When I was doing rehab on my knee...I barely made it a mile!! And that was just in March through April of 2010. I have come a long way!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well, I am ready to start my day. The Y is closed today...so I may workout on the Wii Fit...but I have a downstairs neighbor...so I have to wait until it is at least 8:00 am to do any of that. I will wait on the dishes, too. I only have a few I didn't finish yesterday.

I am watching Snickers look out the window at all the birds flying around outside. He will follow them as they fly by!! He is so funny!! What a good companion cat he is!!

Well, I am going to get off the computer. Have a great day..and remember...it is what you make it...so make it good!!
