I had a real bad day Tuesday. I was hit with three "new" technology challenges which made me feel so stupid! What did I do? I ate, and ate, and ate. I could have taken the time to figure out the problems, but was too emotional to do that.

The first was a switch from DIRECTV to Time Warner. Another new remote and new challenges. By the time the installer was done with his instructions, which were spoken so fast I couldn't understand him, my stomach was twisted into knots. My thought: "I'll never be able to watch TV again." So, what's the big deal? I don't anyway.

My partner suggested later that he figure it out, write it down and show me more slowly how to turn the TV on (it used to be a simple button, right?), change from cable to ROKU to DVD.

Next was the console on my new Mercury Mariner telling me I had my brights on. I never turned them on and didn't know how to turn them off. Now I'll have to pull out the 200 page manual and figure out how to do it. My next car will NOT have a computer telling me what to do!!

And finally, I simply wanted to add a phone number to my phone directory. Do you think I could remember how to do that? Nope, had to get out the manual. Good thing our TV and SUV come with manuals, too! Now all I need is the patience to read the 50 or more pages!

My TV in the bedroom is simply an on/off one. Except for the button on the set, it's a button on the remote. Perfect!

All I remember about the bright lights in the car was an on/off button on the floor. Gene reminded me that they did away with that button decades ago! So, I'm living in the past!

I remember the first time our new phone rang. I picked it up and said, "Hello?" Gene laughed and said I had to turn it on first! Where did the phones go where all you had to do was take the receiver off the hook, and there you go? I don't mind wireless at all, but why do they have to be "turned on"? Maybe I just answered my own question.

I'm gald you survived the technology bugs. Television was a lot easier when we had to get up and change the channels and better for us too! emoticon
