Hottest Loser Eating Plan

Friday, June 10, 2011

Since graduating from college, I've noticed that the vision in my right eye has degraded somewhat. My eye doctor indicated that it is a mild astigmatism and that I need to wear prescription glasses a few nights a week to keep down eye strain.

When I asked her if there was anything that I could do diet or exercise-wise to cure this without glasses, she indicated that there wasn't.

This was the same doctor who unwittingly pointed me to a natural cure to an eye disease that i used to suffer with once or twice a year (Have only had it once since beginning of 2010 and was able to cure it by diet).

I once heard someone on the radio poo-pooing a natural cure that "didn't work" which i had just used effectively to cure exactly what they said it absolutely couldn't cure.

So a couple of nights ago, I Googled "Astigmatism natural cures diet" and went through a couple of sites. I got a list of foods that would in theory help with the cure. I don't know if they will or not. At the same time the foods are mostly vegetables (to quote the Tums commercials, "something my body needs anyway).

The list of foods include the following:
* Carrots(No surprise there) eaten with:
- Celery
- cucumber
- Parsley
- Spinach
* Kale
* Peppers
* Cabbage
* acai (gotta figure out how to get this one)
* goji (never heard of)
* Blueberries

So this week, I'm going to shoot for 1-3 of these per day. If I'm consistently getting 2 then next week, ill up the range to 2-4. until I'm up to 4-6.

So how about you? Take this from two angles
1) What is something that you want out of life beyond weight loss?
Better skin?
Stronger muscles?
Healthier eyes?
Healthier hair?
More Energy?

* Do some Google searches, check out a few pages and see which foods or nutrients are most beneficial toward that goal (spoiler alert: if your looking for stronger muscles, u may find lean protein items). Envision what it will be like once the nutrients start to take effect. Make that ur motivation.

i envision only needing glasses once a week or the doctor talking about my astigmatism going down. It happened for a friend of mine.

2) What is a food or nutrient that you know you're not getting enough of?
Say it's dairy for example. research the health benefits of dairy? What nutrients does it have and what are their benefits(spoiler alert: ive heard that calcium help with w8 loss, but confirm that). Research good substitutes if ur alergic, intolerant or just really don't like.

Make these nutritional benefits ur motivation. Get a list of 5-10 foods and start with a goal 1-2 or 1-3 per day for a week. When ur clearly eating at the midhinge of the range, up the range.

Being the hottest loser is more just campy weigh-in blogs (tho i do loves me them blogs).

* Come up with a goal
* Research the foods that will get you there.
* slowly incorporate them into the diet
* As u eat them/buy them, remember the vision

That's my strategy.

    It's worth a try.
    But remember, just because you read it on the internet (just like reading the newspaper) doesn't make it true!
