I have had the strangest of strange days....
It started with the alarm going off at 4:30 AM for my 9 yr. olds hockey tournament game....he needed to be at the rink by 5:50 - so we had to leave no later than 5. Our drive included a stop at Dunkin Donuts for breakfast.....not the best choice - but I wasn't quite up to preparing anything worth while at 4:30....so I ordered our stuff, and reached over to the cooler to grab a Diet Pepsi for me, and then I went to get my wallet out, when this man in an Orange Relay for Life T-shirt and cool orange plaid shorts said, "I got this."....and he handed the cashier his AMEX card. I was stunned. I did the whole shocked and awe thing...I was blown away.....I thanked him, told him it was not necessary...and he said he worked for Dunkin's and anyone who was up this early deserved a treat. We then talked about the Relay (his t-shirt)....which he had just finished a leg, he asked if I was in it - and I told him about the game...and he said he was really glad to help a "Hockey Mom" out because Hockey Mom's deserve a lot of respect...we chatted for a couple more minutes and he left. What a nice man....and he made my morning. I did tell him about my 9yr. old being Mr. Dunkie...that's what I call him. I can't go a day without him asking if we can go to one...he laughed and said "Good, we have him early."
Did the hockey thing, which was a success, and were home by 8:15, just enough time to change hockey gear for 12. yr old baseball gear and send him and hubby off for warm ups. No run to the field today - it was kind of drizzly and my 9 yr. old really wanted to chill for a bit....so we just waited until game time and went to the field.
Game went into extra innings, but 12. yr old team won - so they live for another round, which is Wednesday.
Had subs for lunch, and I made a horrible choice...small steak and cheese with mushrooms....not the best....
I did sneak in a nap this afternoon, which is something I never do - slept for 1 1/2 hours...YEAH..I needed it.
Visited my Mom, who is still recovering from knee replacement surgery from 3 weeks ago for a bit -- then it was time for 12 yr. old little league graduation night.
I had to help set up and get everything ready for the celebration. The 12 yr. old kids had a blast. They had a lot of different contests for the kids including a home run derby, which my 12 yr. old was in based on his home runs through the season.
They did the first round, and anyone who hit one was to go to the next round....however, it go too late, so they only moved the top two hitters to the last round, so my 12 yr. old missed by one homer tonight...he hit 2 and you needed 3 to make the finals. He had fun - and enjoyed himself, and that is all that matters.
Dinner was at the celebration, and it was another bad night - hot dog, and cookies....NOT GOOD.
I have tracked everything for the day - and am not too upset in the end. I am 25 calories over for the day - but considering the bad choices, it could have been worse - that is for sure.
