Summer's Here....

Monday, June 20, 2011

Today was the kids last day of school, and I can honestly say that I was not ready. I think it is because we have had such cold ugly weather for the Spring. I didn't run outside as much as I would like and my tan is only light....not deep and dark like it was this time last year....but I can't stop the schools - so they are done.

It has been an adventure already - they think the pocketbook has not bounds....I let them have Subway for lunch, and then they thought they could have money to go to the corner store...when I told them that it was going to come from their wallets, they no longer had a desire to go to the corner store......

I've been keeping busy the last few days. I had a frustrating Saturday - my ipod decided that it didn't want to go for my 4 mile run with me, it locked itself up and wouldn't work - which is a really big bummer, because not only do I listen to my tunes from there - it also is Nike+ which tracks my distance/time/pace, etc (and links to challenges that I am on on Nike) - so no ipod means no link, which means they were completely free miles for me in the Nike Challenge world -no credit given....

The good news is the ipod rebellion didn't stop me and I ran anyway - no clue what my pace was....do know that it was about 40 minutes for the 4 miles....it might have been 42 or 38 - it was about....

Didn't like not having my tunes though --- YUCKY!

I joined the Community Team this weekend, the long story short - it's a group of supportive people who try to provide the Spark along the way - there are some "rules" but basically when I'm Sparking - I do it anyway - so I decided that it would help me keep keeping on.

Saturday my 12 yr. old received an award for being a top vote getter for his baseball all star team. They honored 5 kids from each of the divisions (American and National). He got a GC to Olympia sports, he is pretty psyched. I am happy for him, because it means people think he is good at his favorite sport.

We also had Father's Day and Hockey end of season parties. I am proud of myself. I stuck to my no more than 2 sodas, and was pretty close to my calorie ranges.....my GWF says I was at least in a 500 calorie deficit each day...YEAH.

Now if I can keep the family from going into poverty with the kids home we will be good.

I hope your ipod is back in working order- I know how much music helps me pass the time on my runs and GREAT job over the weekend!! I especially like that you allowed yourself to have some soda, instead of none at all!

I'm so happy your son got that award. It's so nice to have something good like that happen - seems like they've been having to deal with some hard stuff when it comes to team sports the last few months.
And I'm giving you a big old

for cutting back on the soda & have a 500 deficit both days this weekend!
PS: My 8 yr old is driving me crazy - every time I tell him to do a job he wants to know how much he is getting paid. The other day I was walking around the yard on dog doo-doo duty & thought to myself "I wonder how much I'm going to get paid for this - oh, yeah, NOTHING!" LOL!
