The End of an Era....and the Cartwheel Contest.

Well...for 15 years I have taught high school math. I've taught Alg. 1, 2, Geometry, Math Models, and ended my last year teaching Pre-Calculus. It was a wild ride, but I got into a routine and I was "standing still". It was time to move on. When I went to college, my intention was teach elementary school. I'm FINALLY going to do that. I have LOVED teaching the big kids....I will miss my seniors so much, but it was time for me to leave.
I will be teaching 3rd grade at a performance arts magnet school here in Corpus Christi. I'm very excited, scared, nervous, terrified (hehehe), but H A P P Y. Two of my 3 boys (my own children) were able to make it into the school on the school's lottery system, my middle son did not, but he's on the waiting list and it does look good for mid-year or next year...so please keep your fingers crossed for him.
Change is hard...but it is a good thing.
I'm still running 3-4 times a week. I love it. I had a hamstring pull that benched me for about 2 weeks, but I'm 99% recovered from that and I've been up and running for about 2 weeks now. How did I pull a hamstring you ask? Well, it was a cartwheel contest that I had in my living room with my 3 boys. I WON! (Yeah, ok, I "won" but the price was HUGE! LOL) But my boys still had fun, and they want a re-match (when I'm able).
During my recovery and the icy hot and the ice/heat moments I reflected. I was DOING CARTWHEELS! ME! I was doing CARTWHEELS! Pretty good ones too. I didn't really hurt myself until after the 6th or maybe 7th one! I was doing MORE THAN ONE! 3 years ago...I wouldn't EVEN ATTEMPTED a cartwheel or even played a game with my kids that involved physical strength or exertion of any kind. I did cartwheels.
Change is a good thing. I might take the rematch...I don't know. We will see....
