My Bucket List

Monday, June 27, 2011

"Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead." - Louisa May Alcott, author

This was the SparkPeople Healthy Reflection for Monday, June 20th.

This is kind of like my "Bucket List": my highest aspirations. And I may not cross them all off my list, but I can sure try.

When I started thinking of what would be on my Bucket List, I couldn't think of anything. That was a real disappointment. Without goals, why would anyone get out of bed in the morning?

So, I thought hard and came up with a few entries:

I'd love to see my six grandchildren graduate high school and maybe even college (the youngest is four and I'm 66).

I'd love never to be alone again. Been there (twice). Don't like it. If I am, and I'm still able to take care of myself, I'd like to move into the Senior Housing complex down the road. I've toured it. It's lovely.

I'd love to take another cruise. I've taken six, but my cruising partner is sick and can no longer work. She's applied for disability, but hasn't gotten it yet, so money is tight now.

I'd love to learn to be patient. Anxiety is part of fibromyalgia and I have trouble doing one thing to the end. My mind keeps skipping to other things and I follow it, afraid if I don't, I'll forget it.

I'd love to read all the books on my "to-be-read" book list. But since it grows daily, I will be happy to just be able to keep reading.

What's on your Bucket List?

Fawn, your comment made me remember another thing I'd love to do. I'd love to visit Israel - before I die or before it does.

I love the bucket list - I have things on mine, but I don't have an official list. I just do things or think of things and say that belongs on my bucket list.

    My bucket list is short:

    1) Visit Ireland and stay awhile

    2) Take a cruise....anywhere in nice weather

    3) Dance at my grandchildren's weddings

The grandkids are 7 and 9, and I'm 52, so with a good financial plan or a lottery win, these are all possible. Right now, though, I need to work for it!

Good way to start your week Nancy!!! I need to think about a Bucket List. Life is way to short.

I would love to hear what is really on my grandson's mind. When he finally learns to converse, I am sure he will have lots to say.

I would love to see my granddaughter have a successful career and find the love of her life.

I would love to see my son have love that lasts and a relationship with my grandson.

I want to see my husband quit smoking--really.

I want to see my brother and sister-in-law become grandparents and know true joy.

I would love to retire and enjoy it with my husband.

I would love to take an Alaskan cruise. It is a small thing but not something that we could financially do right now.
