Simple goals for July; I simply can’t fail.
Here we are midway thru 2011. Do you know where your 2011 Resolutions are? LOL! Well, I’ve kept a very small handful of them and that’s about it. But the year is not over yet and we can still keep trying -never, ever give-up! :)
So, I have a few personal challenges for the month of July:
1. Walk AT LEAST 5x a week:
I have a treadmill at home; there is absolutely no excuse for not using it more often. I used to be a runner. I’ve run many 5-Ks, 10-Ks, relay marathons, & half-marathons. That seems like eons ago. I still run every now and then but there isn’t much joy in it anymore :( I’d like to try to get that joy back one day. But I’m going to focus on just walking for now. I’m also a member at my local YMCA, which is directly across the highway from my job, LITERALLY 2 minutes away by car or 6 minutes by foot. And across the road, behind my job, there is a huge popular city park which hosts several walking / running trails. So, HELLOOOO??? WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HERE??? Yeah, like I said, there is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for not going for a walk first thing in the morning, or during my lunch break, or when I get home from work, etc, etc.!!
2. Participate in the aerobics class at my YMCA every Tuesday:
There are two 6 a.m. step-aerobics classes a week at the Y, on Tuesdays and on Thursdays. I had been going to both of them for a few months until my schedule at work changed and I couldn’t make the early time. Well, it's been 2 months that I'm back on my old schedule and I haven’t been to the Y --in 2 months, BOOO! So I’m going to shoot for every Tuesday in July. If I make it to the Thursday class, then that’s good, too!
3. Lose 5 lbs:
This is my goal for just this month. I would love to see 140, which is 15 lbs away –yes, the same 15 lbs I’ve been working on for about 4 years now. They come off, they come back on. They come off, they come back on. Ugh :( I would sooo love to say goodbye to them FOREVER. But for starters, I’m going to shoot low--go slow, and hopefully see myself minus 5 lbs on July 31.
4. Blog every day:
I want to blog about my 'July' journey everyday; share about my challenges -for the support, and for the accountability. Have you ever heard a saying that goes something like, “If you want different results, do something different”? Well, I hope that a commitment of blogging, about my goals, everyday will be the something different that gets me on track. Hey, it’s worth a try… :)
5. Try 2 new things with my Hubby: restaurant, event, adventure, etc
This challenge is less ‘weight loss’-related; it's health-related. Mental health that is! In the spirit of doing something different, I want me and my Hubby to break out of a minor rut we’ve been in due to too much work -and not enough planning and doing FUN STUFF! This goal easy and fun to accomplish!
6. Take a daily picture:
This is something I’ve wanted to do for a hundred years. I’ve started at least 200 times in the past but it's never lasted more than a couple of weeks. So in an effort to keep this one going for the month of July, I’ll add pictures to my blogs as often as possible.
Well, these are 6 goals for July. Very simple; very doable. So simple that I cannot fail! And they are all somewhat interrelated, don’t you think? So wish me luck! And if you want to hold me accountable, please do! :)
