Running / Baseball / Neighbors ....

Yesterday was a sad day. My son's baseball team was eliminated from competition that would have lead them to Williamsport, PA for the Little League World Series. They had a great tournament, and have a lot to be proud of. However, last night they didn't want it as much as the other team, and played sloppy ball....and a loss was what they got for it.
Jake is handling it very well - he had a great series himself, and has a lot of things that he will remember....Winning Grand Slams, Winning 2 games pitching, going 10 for 12, no strikeouts, and a bruise the size of a grapefruit from getting hit with a pitch....and he was the lead off headline in the town's local paper yesterday....all wonderful things.
The good news is that my pocket book will not feel it - the deeper they went in the tourney - the more expensive it would get. From the MA tourneys it is to CT, then PA, which basically meant a month away from home for two of us.....EXPENSIVE!!!!!! So for that I am happy that we are out.
We did start yesterday with what was going to be a trail run - however, we ended up with one of Jake's friends, and I haven't had him there yet - so it was a paved run instead. We ran the trail that leads to the woods....2.3 each way....add in the run out the to quarry for swimming and it was a 5.1 mile run. I ran the WHOLE thing - only 1 walk break - and the break for the boys to swim....my time was 50:27....WOWSER! I really must have enjoyed the 70' temps after 2 weeks of 90' runs....
Our new neighbors are moving in today - they have a 9 yr. old, and he is getting along great with mine - he is very athletic, so they will get along fantastic. I have to remember peanut allergies now though - as he is HIGHLY allergic!!!!! I really like the new couple too. They are very down to earth. She is a stay at home mom too - so hopefully we end up getting along really well.
have a great weekend!
