Time - It's a balancing act....

Thursday, July 21, 2011

I need about 5 more hours in every day - and then maybe - just maybe - I might have enough to get it all in.

Trying to create the exercise/home/health balance is for sure a huge balancing act, and I'm finding it hard to keep up with everything and make it work.

I have made exercise and family my priorities.....and sometimes that means that I am not able to spend time checking out all of my Spark buddies and what is going on with them.

It makes me a little crazy.....without all of you and Spark - I do not believe that I would have been as successful in 2011 as I have been.....however --- I still have to find a balance and it's getting harder....

I don't know if it will get easier once Summer ends, and the kids go back to school - because I really should find some sort of part time job that works around them...which means less me time - so the me time I find has to be for exercise.....

But for now - trying to exercise, spend time with the kids and keep the house from looking like a hoarder lives here isn't easy.....I have managed to keep up the laundry (no choice - baseball uniforms need washing 3 or 4 times a week) - and with the general pick up - however - the down and dirty cleaning - well - lets just say - NOPE!

So next week, my week off from my niece, I have to work on the down and dirty --- it's not easy - but it's got to be done.

I can SO identify with you! I'm thinking kind of the opposite though, when school starts and I resume homeschooling my special needs son, I'm probably going to have to limit my Spark-time severely. Maybe a short morning stint while I shake off the morning grogginess, and then again at night to check on things and log my trackers. Other than that, I'm going to have to get working! I loved the hoarder comment - I can so relate!

I've started of thinking of things as if they're on shelves, rising in importance of what needs to be done. But that's not working so well b/c the things on the bottom shelf are developing a virtual layer of dust I'm going to need a chisel to budge!

Good luck with your balancing act, and if you find a good strategy, let me know!

Hey Robyn you can do it, one of the things my therapist said is if you don't put yourself first and take care of you, you can't take care of your family as well. So you are doing what is needed, we love you as your sparkie friends but first you and your family and believe me if you can't spark daily once and a while is okay. Do the things that you need hugs!!

I swear I could have written that! LOL

Family & health are the important things. All the other stuff will fall into place & get done when it gets done! We all Spark when we can & when we can't it still goes on without us.

Keep up your good work, you are doing emoticon in 2011!

You and your family are the best priorities of all! We'll always be here and will look forward to hearing from you when you have the time. I'm sure everyone will understand if you spark a little less during the summer. I WILL! :)

Exercise and family are excellent priorities!!
I'm not nearly as busy as you and I don't get the down and dirty cleaning done very often myself.

I think your priorities are in a good order. You and the family first, then clean when you can.

I'm in a similar situation as Amy. I have a lot of downtime at work after April 15 or I wouldn't get to spend as much time on here. I go missing from here during the weekend because I'd rather not sit at the computer all day like I do Mon-Fri, and I have lots of other things to do.

I know just what you mean. At home I want to spend time with my family and doing what needs to be done, plus I have a slow Internet connection. So I try to do bits of Sparking at work when I can. I just can't do as much for my Spark Friends as would like, but everyone understands. Most of us are juggling, too!

You have to do what is right for you!!! Or you will make yourself crazy!!! Sometimes I just read on my iPhone when I am out waiting for my kids at their swim events... (hence the spelling issues at times) ... You are doing great... Just take care of you and what is at the top of the list... :):):)

I know what you mean. During work I usually don't have much to do so I get to Spark aaaallllllll day. Well, this week work has been busy. After work & weekends I'm busy being mom/wife so there is little to no Spark time. Sparking is big fun time for me so I've been missing it this week :(
It could be fun for you - getting a part time job. A little extra cash is always nice.

You are putting yourself and your family first and that is the most important. It is a juggling act that I struggle with, too. It sounds like you have a good handle on it.
