week 36!

Monday, August 01, 2011

Well I am techincally about 36.5 weeks, but I have been pretty busy getting ready for Sammy that this blog is a little late.

According to babycenter.com Sammy is the size of a crenshaw melon and should weight about 6 pounds and be about 18 1/2 inches long. We had an ultra sound on Friday and they said he looked to be about 6 1/2 pounds! I am so glad that my high blood pressure has not stunted his growth! If they are accurate he's going to be on the big side! He has been a pretty mellow guy in my stomach since the beginning, hopefully he will be like that in real life! At the utra sound they had to "buzz" him to get him to move, and even then he didn't want to move, he seemed pretty comfortable where he was!

My results came back and I don't have Preeclampsia! My protein levels are tending to me developing it, so I am still on watch at my midwife's office. I still am on blood pressure medication, my levels where lower ( 130/96), but still on the high side. My midwife basically said that if my blood pressure increases or I start to get signs of preeclampsia at any of my weekly appointments they will instruct me to go to the hospital to be induced. That being said I am going to put my hospital bag in the car each time I go in to an appointment from now on just incase. I really don't want to be induced, since I heard the labor can be longer and harder, and I want to as close as annatural birth ( with over the counter medication like tylenol) as possible, meaning no IV with drugs or an epidural. So because of this I am still following a low sodium diet and resting alot along with taking blood pressure medication in hopes that it keeps my blood pressure down.

I have also preregistered at the hospital so that once the time comes to have Sammy, Mike doesn't have to fill out paper work or do the co-payment. My next appointment is this Friday, things are just going by so fast now! I can't wait to meet him!

AWESOME! So glad you don't have preeclampsia and I hope it stays that way! Funny because I just naturally didn't want an epidural or to be induced or anything, and that was 8 years ago with Annalisa and over 3 years ago with Angelo. Now just 2 weeks or so ago, I finally saw the documentary "The Business of Being Born" and now I understand how bad the intervention cycle really is! I pray that you will be able to have the natural childbirth that you desire!!!!!!
