Day #1 -- An introduction to me

Sunday, August 07, 2011

Hi everyone! It's Day #1 and my first Spark blog post. While I've been on Sparkpeople before, I'm back and feeling a flood of motivation that I never knew I had! I'm about 40 pounds over my goal weight and I'm ready to make changes in my life. I've been overweight for a long time and have always put everything else in my life first, and "me" last.

Three months ago, the love of my life and fiance passed away and I'm still trying to process it all. For years, we were overworked and not taking care of ourselves and he paid the ultimate price. I'm learning that my health and making time for exercise are VITAL to not only my body, but my happiness and self esteem. One huge part of my new life needs to be Sparkpeople and getting healthy (for so many reasons) and I also launched a blog (www.imbraycd.com) and joined Twitter as well. I'm trying to make something positive out of all this, as difficult as that may be...

The way I see it, there is no time like the present. I have so many reasons to get healthy and at the very least, I can blow off steam and negative energy while I exercise and put myself in a positive mood (even if it's just for a couple hours).

I cannot wait to begin this journey!

Your enthusiasm for these positive changes is very inspiring! I know that you will be successful....I can just hear it in your blog! Losing a loved one is the worst and can cause lots of stress which in turn causes weight gain. I know because I, too, lost my grandson who was only 18 days old in November 2010. I know that I will never be the same person I was....but now I must refocus and take care of myself so that I can care for the others in my family. I wish you much success and best wishes on your weight loss journey! emoticon
