Today is my first anniversary with Spark People. Amazing changes have happened. I started this journey weighing 214 lbs and now I'm 153 lbs. Total lost is 61 lbs; averaging almost a pound a week. I was on three blood pressure medications; completely off them now. I wore size 20; now I'm size 8.
I was a couch potato. The only exercise I got was from going from the couch to the refrigerator. I started to track my food first and concentrated on one thing at a time. Then little at a time I added exercise. Started with Leslie Sansone's Walk tapes. Then started to walk outdoors and added little jogs here and there. In the beginning I was gasping for air after 30 seconds but I stuck with it. I can be stubborn. In August I started a running program: Running 101 from Runner's World. It took 10 weeks but at the end of it I was able to run 3 miles. October 22nd I ran my first 5k. That was the best. I don't know if I'll ever run an other race but I now know I can. I love running; run 3-4 days a week now. Yesterday it was 2 degrees with the windchill but I ran. Waiting for spring and warmer weather.
This has been the best year. I have great buddies. The support from Linda, Jeannie and Dawne has been tremendous. My team has helped in so many ways. Go Sapphires!
I still have a few more to lose but I'm in no hurry. With the new habits and support I know I will get there.

    Hey, congrats to you on your anniversary!! I've been with SP since Jan of last year and only lost 35 pounds and been struggling getting it off since last November. I keep gaining and losing the same five pounds. I'm on the yellow team, so I know I've not been a help for them.. I've seen your team do great most weeks. That's awesome how good you've done. I hope that soon I'll be able to say, that I'm doing that good.. I wish you all the success in reaching your goals. Later, Ivy :)
