Sunday Dinner

Sunday, August 14, 2011

Sunday Dinners have always had such special meaning to me because being Italian, we met every Sunday with all of our uncles, Aunts and cousins at my grandparents and we ate. Not quite sure Why Anthony ate pasta on Wednesday but we ate it on Sunday.....
My grandparents and parents have since passed, but I love having a Sunday dinner with my children and extended family members. Today I wanted a turkey, but they were all frozen at the market so I opted for chicken. Then I made regular mashed, gravy, baked sweet potato(for me), rolls, carrots and a lovely tossed salad. We all sat down to dinner. I prefer baked sweet to mashed. I had some chicken breast, a salad, carrots, tossed salad. Yummm. Not a big fan of gravy. I enjoyed my dinner. We told stories and laughed. No TV. No radio... Just family time. So precious and not often enough.
I did not feel deprived by what I ate. It was so yummy. But the conversation was the best part. I wish that life was not so busy that Sunday was the only time we sat down together.
I went for a walk today with my daughter. My foot is sore, but I will ice and ibuprofen it tonight. Tomorrow is my weigh in...... I would like to be at my goal by next summer. I will give myself a year, and if I get to a year and i am not at my goal, I will just extend the date.
I have set up small reachable percentages on my spark page and I will look forward to reaching everyone of them.
Less than one month till the tri!!!! I am doing this.

Your dinner sounds so good. I love baked sweet potato and we have it quite often.

I agree family dinners are so nice. We used to all be together on Sunday afternoons and I would make a nice big meal. Not anymore. Kate is off at college, my son works.....I miss those quiet family meals as they are few and far in between now. Everyone is so busy lately. I cook for my husband when he wakes up (he works graveyards) and then I cook again for my son when he gets home at night. I usually eat with my husband at 3 in the afternoon. Actually the super early dinner has worked well for me and I usually just have a piece of fruit and decaf in the evening.

Well I've blabbed a whole paragraph here on your blog, lol!

Hope your foot feels better REALLY soon. I think your goal of next summer is great Jeanne. That's prolly when I will be able to reach mine. I took the 200 (onderland number off my weight ticker as I seem to self sabotage every time I get near it).
