How do you say no? Well why would I. I told her that I would go if she expanded the walk to 3 miles so it could be incorperated into tri training. We speed walked, averaged 4 mph which is ok by me. Huge hill to work on those glutes.
Walking with an almost 20 year old daughter. We talk about the boy she likes. The realization that if she is struggling to pay for community college that something has to change for her to pay for a school that she goes away to.... We talk about friends, sleepovers, dreams aspirations....
We talk about how Dad and I went from super strict to openly giving so much more freedom. My explanation is that a parent has to let a child have room to have life lessons when they are a young adult. I have taught morals and such and now it is time for her to spread her wings and be there to support her while she fixes mistakes made... She had a lightbulb moment of understanding.
The end of the walk ends with her telling me things about herself that she is not proud of and that i would not approve of.... i wish we would have talked about it walking up that big hill, now that would have been a burst up the hill. reread paragraph before this one.... urgh.
All in all a great walk and a great opportunity to move toward a shared goal of good health.
