This summer we met family for a brief vacation at Lake Tahoe. My regular workout routine prepared me to have a great time. I was able to kayak without difficulty or soreness. Previously, I would have gotten quite sore, but my strength training had me ready to play!
The biggest challenge proved to be the hike up Mt. Tallac. This was just under 10 miles round trip. A snow field forced us to choose between two routes. One going a bit further off course, but then back to the main trail. Two of us left the main trail to scramble straight up over rocks, only to find we had to do that several more times before reaching the summit.
It was hard work, but I made it!
The views and the accomplishment were wonderful rewards!
