Water jogging....who knew

I have just recently started water jogging and I'm loving it! We don't have a fancy in ground pool just a 4th deep 18ft round above ground. I haven't used at all this summer, our kids, their friends, and nephews usually monopolize it. But everyone is back in school so when I get home I have it to myself for about 90 minutes before my son joins me.

I probably wouldn't have even started using it but I hurt my back over the weekend doing yard work and thought just floating on lounge chair would feel good. After about 20 minutes I started walking around in the pool and it didn't hurt so I started to jog. I've been hooked ever since and am so enjoying myself! It is so relaxing, I start by floating for a while to unwind from the day and get some sun, then I do kicks and start jogging. With luck I'll be able to continue pool workouts till the end of September, one of the benefits of living in southern California.

I am surprised how good a workout I'm getting without sweating up a storm. My arms and legs have been pretty sore but my back isn't paying the price. Once it cools down and I can't use the pool anymore I have my new yoga blocks and straps to enhance my yoga DVD. I also received a Bosu ball from my daughter but I want my back to recover before I start using it.
