Motivation

Thursday, September 15, 2011

So I want honest answers (if anyone reads this that is lol!!) how do you reboot your motivation when it seems to start slipping? Honestly I feel like I get more motivated when I start seeing the numbers on the scale going down or my skin has a prettier glow than normal but then I seem to lose my stride and get knocked off course.

The only problem I have with losing motivation is that I tend to fall back into terrible habits that I had in my high school and early college years. I had an eating disorder and I would just not eat at all. I try to avoid this coping mechanism because I know it is very bad on your body but I must say it is hard not to skip meals. So if anyone can give me a pointer of what helps them out I would love to hear it.

Well hope to hear from my fellow sparkers!
Ciao^~^

Determined_Soul that is a good idea and I have been trying to just do working out and drinking water instead of being so obsessed with the number on the scale. Main thing I'm trying to keep myself on track with is getting strong for snowboarding. =] Thanks for your input you are awesome!

Have you tried setting non-scale goals. Setting yourself some goals will help keep you on track and give you the motivation you need. Some goals could be 8oz water, 5 freggies, 10 mins exercise daily, write in a journal daily, log food daily, give yourself some "me time" daily. Reaching these goals will in turn help you reach your weight loss goal.

A lot of times when I'm losing motivation with exercise or eating right, I do as Nike says and "Just do it". Usually, it's the thought of actually doing it that gets to me, but I tend to feel much better once I start working out or I realize how delicious my healthier meal is. I also like to read the Spark blogs. If someone can lose 100+ lbs and stay healthy, I don't see why I can't lose my 10 vanity lbs and stay healthy as well.

Thank you for sharing your own personal ways to motivate yourself I think that paying attention to your health to fight against disease and body fat is an excellent way to keep yourself moving forward. I will keep that in mind for sure when I'm having a tough time moving forward. Thank you again=D

I try to focus on the things I am doing right that will help me reach my goals. And I have a note card taped above my computer that list the advantages to eating healthier and being fit. Some the advatages that I focus on are: to reduce my risk of disease, to get rid of excess body fat, to have less aches and pains (this is the one that motivated me to get started), etc.
