The Best 1 1/2 Miles Ever!

Everyone should already know how proud I am of my awesome son. He's 14, a freshman in high school, and plays clarinet in the marching band. I am not overprotective, but I am involved. I go to all the games and am an active Band Mom. Tonight, I had the priviledge of chaperoning (aka marching with) the band in their school's homecoming parade.
The parade route was only a mile and a half long and it was so much fun! I so thoroughly enjoyed marching with them and watchng my son smile as his friends told him how lucky he is that his mom cares. His band required significant financial investment (like $700 before Day 1 of Band Camp) and commitment of time (like waking at 5 am everyday to have him on the field and ready for marching practice by 6:15 five mornings a week!!!) but I am so glad that I have the opportunity to support him in his passion. I know that as he grows up, I will never have the chance again to be involved in his life like I am now. I thank God for such a wonderful son and for each of the steps I get to take with him on his journey.
