Running, running, and wait...

Well, I've been running a lot lately. I love it. It is really making me feel powerful. it makes me feel invincible and not focus on what Weight I need to lose but the miles I need to accomplish. I know I need to lose weight...but I also know that I need to have energy to run long distance...so let's find a happy medium.
I love the way I feel. I love the confidence I'm getting from running. I mean it really makes me lugh to look back and my running history.
When I as a gymnast...I NEVER ran...I sprinted for vault and hard tumbling passes. And that lasted all of 10 seconds at a time. then I became a cheerleader...and we ran circles in the gym for 20 minutes to get in shape for routine..then season started and we just did routines...so kinda like 2.5 minutes of circuit training. Then I got to college...ooo boy did college change me. I got fat. :( I ate all the time and hated running so I just did elliptical and rode a bike...not much. Then I decided to do kickboxing and spin and my weight dropped a bit.
Then hubby came into the picture. he was a soccer player and track runner. So I decided to run on the treadmill. It took me 6 months to run a mile in 10 minutes. Then we graduated and moved. We started hitting the trail next to my apt and ran 2,3,4 miles. never more than that. I had no desire. I ran my first 5k in December 2009. I thought I would die. Then I ran my second race in December 2010.
Now I'm training for a half marathon, running 3-7 miles each individual run. I can't believe How far I have come. I am so proud if my accomplishments. I ran 5 miles last week in 48 minutes! I can't believe it! It felt great. Each run gets easier and faster.
I'm meeting new friends, I'm gaining confidence...and I may even lose some weight and inches while doing all this. :)
I may not be skinny, and fat free....but I'm fit people...and really, isn't that what makes a difference? Yes, I need to work on my eating..yes that would help me lose weight, but I have to say that I'm still pretty dang healthy. I will conquer the food thing...but for now, my focus is this half marathon.
If I can do this, people...anyone can!!
