Does stress burn calories?

It has been 10 months since I last updated this Sparkpeople blog. Since then, I have been going through a few changes.

--My eldest daughter graduated from high school and started college.
--My son was diagnosed with scoliosis and started wearing a brace.
--I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and started taking medication.
--My MIL was hospitalized with a severe case of pneumonia while we were on vacation, sending my husband into a panic. He has been sleeping at the hospital every night for the past two weeks.

As you can imagine, with all this going on it was no problem for me to find reasons not to exercise. I did manage to work in a little walking or Wii Fit here and there, but it wasn't consistent. Luckily my weight has been holding steady; the 16 lbs I lost on Weight Watchers is still gone. Yay! My diet isn't really the issue, though. I'm concerned about building my endurance and increasing my mobility, especially since having MS means that the possibility of losing my ability to walk is always looming in the distance.

So here I am again, back at Sparkpeople, trying to jump-start a fitness habit. I don't know how long I will stick with it this time. I figure that it is a good sign that at least I keep coming back.

    I wondered where you've been! Sorry to hear about the MS...and the scoliosis...and the MIL. Geesh! Not sorry about M going to college, though--that's a good thing (though a big adjustment, I'm sure, and not one I am particularly looking forward to myself. Heck, I cried watching Little People, Big World when Jeremy moved to California to study photography!)

    Anyway, good for you for climbing back on the horse. I think you have the right idea trying to improve your fitness. Seems like anything you can do will help with maintaining your ability to be mobile and active.

    You are lucky.. most people stress adds on weight. I am one of thosHe that can drink water only during stressful times and actually gain weight

    Stick with it. I know it seems like (well, it doesn't just "seem" like it, it IS) a lot for you to manage and deal with, but you will find strength. I'm sending my positive thoughts your way.
