Jean Shopping.....

Friday, October 14, 2011

the need for a new pair of jeans has been a big need for a while now....I needed them last Winter and put it off - and then the warm weather came - so out came the shorts....so I put it off more.....now it is chillly again - and I only have 1 pair of jeans, and a 2nd pair is in order.....of course I would have been happy avoiding the situation.....but.....hubster got us invited to a "Trivia Night" with a bunch of friends, at a local pub....so ..... I want to look cute, and not over dressed, so new pair of non faded worn out jeans is in order......

Jeans shopping was on the calendar today.....I went to 4 stores.....Kohl's, Coldwater Creek, American Eagle and Ann Taylor Loft (they are all in the same plaza).....I spent 2 1/2 hours trying on jeans, and there was not one pair of jeans that fit me correctly.....

If they fit in the thighs and behind, then the waist was about 6" too big....if the waist fit - then they looked like they were painted on my thighs and behind....and lets not forget that at 5'4" most of them are so long I would need 6" heels to make them not drag on the floor....

At my heaviest I had the same problem......except the size numbers were 16, 18 and 20......now 10,12,14......it is the same.....all of my khaki pants are 10's, and they fit great.....my old work pants are 10's....fit great....why can't I find a pair of jeans?????

Jeans ---- they are made for people who are not shaped like me......

Does anyone else have this problem.....

I could have written this blog, except that I haven't gone shopping for that 2nd pair yet. I have exactly the same problem with the waist gapping 6 inches or more. And if I wear a belt to get the waist right, the gathers look ridiculous...like I'm wearing a diaper or something!

I guess it's true that we get smaller but our basic shape doesn't change, because I had the same problem with 14-16s as I do with 8-10s. Sigh.

Well, I'm 5'9" and carry my weight in the middle so I'm not gonna be able to help you much... if it's any consolation, I hate shopping for jeans, too. Mine are always too short and if they fit my behind, they're too tight around the waist and cause muffin top emoticon

If you watch What Not to Wear, they always buy the jeans to fit the bottom half and then have the waist band taken in my a tailor...but I'm no Stacy London - and where I live, we don't have many "tailors" around! LOL

    YES!!! Very annoying.
Not everyone carries their weight in their belly. I think most gals are bigger on the bottome half.

I DO!!! The beer bellies and platform heels have made jeans crazy. I am considering having a pair custom made, they last me forever so I might as well look awesome. I have had pretty good luck with going to TJMaxx or Marshalls, just because of the sheer volume and variety of styles they have. I might have to try on 40 pairs, but eventually something fits right. I am currently walking around in a pair that looks awesome from my hips down, if I could keep them on....I just look silly because they slide down or have to be bunched up with a belt. Sheesh!
