Happy Halloween SparkBuds!

Halloween brings back great memories for me as a kid. Carmel apples, popcorn balls, home made fudge, rice crispy treats all filled my jack o lantern as I walked the streets with my dad in tow. These were made with loving hands by local women who competed with each other in a friendly "game" to see who could make the best tasting treats and lure the most witches, ghouls and gobblins to their doors.

Unfortunately the children of today will have memories of Hershey kisses, snickers bars and bags of M&Ms thanks to the deviates of our society who prey on the helpless to make up for their own tiny brains and other parts.

I'll be spending Halloween in the rural town of my youth this year, but will still fatten the wallets of candy companies and the middles of local children by giving out "appropriate" treats.

At least no one in town will have to x-ray their plunder and a few may even get the random piece of fudge from some kindly lady who remembers the "good old days". If I find out who, I may put on a mask and hit the street myself!! :)

Till Next Time...

PS If you reply, please let me know your favorite Halloween treats of your youth. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I arrived on time in the US to see all the kids and masked people yesterday and enjoyed it a lot. I grew up without Halloween so I don't have a preferred treat.

I still don't really understand what is going on. What if you ask for a trick? What would happen? I am very curious to be honest and was tempted to not give a treat to the kids to see what they would do. Of course I did not, because I did not want to spoil the kids evening. Maybe next year if I am in the US at that time I will try.

    Caramel popcorn balls, hands-down!!!!!!
I used to ration my Hallowe'en treats, hiding the shelled peanuts and some of the candy kisses on myself, then bringing them out sometime in November and taunting my sisters cause I still had candy and they did not!!!! Did not make me popular around out house : )

I loved caramel popcorn balls! But the best were the houses that gave out nickels. 5 cents seemed a like a lot of money way back then. I am dressing up Cooper as a sweet pea, and taking him out Trick or Treating with my 6 year old niece. I can't find my camera, but hopefully someone in my family will take a picture.

Here's a tip, Larry- don't ask the kids who's giving out what! LOL!

Crackle bar, Nestle Crunch bar or 100 Grand for me, thanks. (Now I have to google what a fast break bar is!) emoticon
