Philippians 1:21
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Ive read this scripture many times but when my eyes landed on it again I gave it alot more thought. With this phrase, Paul is saying "I can't speak for you but I can speak for myself." This is similar to our common expression today "As far as I am concerned" Paul was faced with the prospect of death at the hands of the Roman government. It in those "dying times" that one often thinks about the things that are the most important. It was not difficult for Paul to explain what was of utmost importance to him. What makes your life worth living? your family? your work? your reputation? etc

Paul’s life, the sum total of his reason for existence. All of Paul’s activities and interests, his entire existence was within the sphere of Christ, for indeed, "from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen." (Romans 11:36)

Paul's words mean more than most men think; they imply that the aim and end of his life was Christ, his life itself was Jesus. In the words of an ancient saint, he did eat, and drink, and sleep eternal life. Jesus was his very breath, the soul of his soul, the heart of his heart, the life of his life.

Can you say, as a professing Christian, that you live up to this idea? Can you honestly say that for you to live is Christ? Your business-are you doing it for Christ? Is it not done for self-and for family advantage?

As I pondered this scripture and asked myself these questions I took the time to examine myself for Paul asks us to do this daily.

2 Corinthians 13:5-7
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you unless, of course, you fail the test? 6 And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test.

Then I prayed:

Lord, accept me; Im here to present myself, praying to live only in Thee and to Thee. Let me be as the bullock which stands between the plough and the altar, to work or to be sacrificed; and let my motto be, "Ready for either."

As I go through this journey of stage 3 cancer I cant help but to think of my lifes end and how ready am I to meet the Lord?. Examining all that I do and the whys and the hows and if my life does stand up to my motto of JESUS FIRST. Its in this self-examination that I find myself not caring about the things of this world like I used to. It is all about Jesus everything we do, everywhere we go the reasons we do what we do and act like we do. It must be all about him for we were born to worship and serve him and thats it..I can now understand how and why Paul felt the way he did.

Paul knew that death is not a defeat to the Christian but is merely a graduation to glory, a "net gain" in accounting terms. When a Christian dies, he (or she) really begins to live to the full, for he passes into the perfect, eternal, glorious union with Christ unhindered by the world, the flesh and the devil.

So now I am excited more than ever I find myself saying "Oh Lord I cant wait to be with YOU!!"When a Christian dies, he has just begun to live..I understand what Paul is saying and how he felt I now raise my hands in praise to the lover of my Soul Oh my Jesus how great you are how you have changed my life.

Thank you for opening my blind eyes and my deaf ears to see and hear your beauty to know that you bless me daily to know that you love me with an everlasting love and to know my eternity is with you how I cant wait for that day to finally see you face to face help me Lord to live the rest of my life only for you to die to self to see and live only for you..Your will not mine until I see you Lord I give you and surrender to you my life I am yours use me to the advancement for your Kingdom I am ready.

Philippians 1:21
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Once again your words hit home...to my life. Thank you Jesus for my sister Carol who is always willing and obedient to you and to do your will. In the recent months I have been drawn to that idea. Am I really ready as Paul was when he wrote in Philippians 1:21 "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."? As I have been going through many trail and tribulation in my life and work recently,I came to understand that I want to do everything for my Lord Jesus and that includes being ready to die in HIM. I am ready for his second coming. I know that once I am gone form this earthly world my Lord has a mansion prepared for eternal peace and rest and the devil is a liar and deceiver because he is always trying for us to fail or fall from the grace of our Lord. I can't wait to be face to face with our Lord. What an emoticon promise we have.

I went to a funeral service for my dear friend, Esther, this week. She was one of my mentors. It was said during her eulogy that Christians should have a "do not resuscitate" sign on them so no one will hinder us from going to the glory that is in store for us. I look forward to that Day! Love you!!!

Oh Griff,. your words fill me with both a sense of Joy and conviction. I truly do strive to be sure ALL I do glorifies My Lord and reflects His Love. However, there are those times I miss the mark. Praise God for His forgiveness and His Love. I Praise God for His direction, protection, AND His correction in my life. Things of this world are really getting less and less tolerable for me. i agree with Paul when He said it is far better to depart to be with the Lord, but I also know God has plans for me on this earth and I intend to go after them wholeheartedly and fulfill God's will not mine, for my life. Thank you for sharing and thank you for being YOU! Hallelujah! I love you my dear sweet sister in Jesus! Have a Blessed weekend. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Once again your words touch us all my dear friend. It was so wonderful to talk on the phone with you today. My only regret was that we could not talk more. Griff, thank you for sharing your love of God with us. When I am with God I don't want to let go, I mean I just want to bask in His presence. Being with HIm is the best feeling I have ever experienced. I can't even imagine how much better I will feel after I die and ma with Him completely.

In the bible it said,"Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves." I believe this means you stand in your faith. Your faith surrounds you, it guides you, it molds you. Your actions make you,and in the end your are Christ's child, and in the end He claims you as HIs own!

It is so important to examine our thoughts, words, and actions. If we truly do this, and yearn to become closer to God, and improve ourselves through purification. I believe at some point we want to die to our flesh. We want to change our ways. This is a natural process, because God can not be made full within us if we are full of sinful ways, thoughts, and actions. We are made to grow closer to God. We can not change without examining ourselves.

I love you Griff, and I can't wait until we talk again. You are a child of God, a blessing to many, and I am lucky enough to call you my friend! emoticon

There is nothing like the hope of glory that is ours. It's nearly too much to contain to ponder the place our Beloved is preparing for us. The thought of being face to face with Him, in His everlasting arms, looking into His eyes of pure love is more than my mortal mind can grasp. The Spirit and the bride say come, Lord Jesus. Maranatha!!!
