Can't keep it off!

Saturday, November 12, 2011

My cutter goal is to get down to 134 by the end of the year. I'm currently weighing in at 140/141 depending on the day. I was down to 136, but only for a brief time. My weight pretty much keeps sticking right at 140. It may go up or down a few pounds, but comes back every time to 140. I'm not sure what to do about this. I have been doing some strength training recently, so I think that is also affecting my weight. I went for my yearly visit yesterday and asked my doctor about it. She said to just keep eating and working out and eventually my weight will level off. The problem is that it has leveled of - at 140. I'd prefer it to level off at about 6 pounds less than that. Any advice?

As you probably know, other stuff makes us hang onto weight, like diverting our liver/kidneys from processing fat to energy, by making them focus on artificial sugars, preservatives, difficult to digest foods, etc. You've got the workout part down! In fact, you inspire me!
Drop out the meat, dairy, and Splenda for a few days, and you'll be home free!

Thanks for the advice Jazz! I will definitely have to try that. I've recently been doing 15 minute intervals on various machines, but I'll try to take your advice and see if that works!

That's what the SP fitness pages say, JAZZEJR, intervals are a way to shake things up rather than the same steady pace, no matter how fast. Good advice.

Sure, this happened to me. My metabolism was acting "dead," but I amped up my exercise with run/walking and doing intervals on whatever I was doing (elliptical, walking, whatever) and stayed at the low end of my calorie allowance. Then I worked up to doubling my daily exercise minutes (along with doing weights twice a week). I make sure I do some exercise every day. Seems to be doing the trick for me. Now you're more than half my age, so you shouldn't need such drastic measures. Why not just try the intervals?
