The Start of Something New

I worked hard all summer, learning new routines for my Zumba Gold classes. Practicing, practicing and more practicing. Figuring out what works and what doesn’t work. My less than ten year-round peeps were my guinea pigs, happily hearing new music, new moves and new routines. Three or four of them have been with me for three years. We have become good friends.
Winter visitors were starting to come back to our little desert resort town. My class was going strong Mon, Wed, Friday at 11:30 every week. I was anticipating the new season: seeing familiar faces and meeting new victims…LOL.
Nov 4 – Friday afternoon. I get an email from the Activities Director at the RV park where I teach these classes.
You see, they just hired a new cook for their little café that is situated right in the same large area where the ballroom is. People were starting to talk about how good the food was this year. The café started getting busier.
The email said they had been getting complaints that residents couldn’t visit over lunch with the Zumba® class going on. And they were going to have to move the class to the Fitness Center.
The Fitness Center has a room upstairs that they always told me was too small for the amount of participants I would get. Whenever we did have to have class in there…for one reason or another during the summer…the ladies always complained that the rubber flooring bothered their knees. I replied to the email with one question: Do you want me to start Monday morning in the Fitness Center or the ballroom? Did not hear back.
Monday morning when I got to the park, the guard on duty told me class was going to be in the Fitness Center. I didn’t know it then, but my life as I knew it was about to change.
