Vacation Tests Over....Back to Reality

Monday, January 02, 2012

Well, as far as my Vacation Test goes, I'd give myself a "C". I lost one pound. I was hoping for more, but it could have been worse, so I'm OK with that. The nice thing about the vacation was it gave me free time to take wonderful walks outside most afternoons. Struggled though with the food and too much spare time. So the vacation helped with the exercise time, but not with the food.

The irony is that going back to work will have the opposite affect. The structure and busy-ness of the day will help with the food, but leave me less time for exercising. I get home too late to enjoy the nice walks outdoors; at least until springtime when it stays light later. I'm still working on getting the food & exercise in sync. So that will be my new challenge...making time for exercise as well as getting my food/eating under control. But I'm determined and up to the challenge!!

You lost a pound?!?!?! WOO HOO! I am sitting on a gain of 8! So, back to the schedule I go - it is the only thing that keeps me on track with my eating and my workouts. Chalene Johnson says, make a time to workout and stick to it! So, I do and it works for me. What works for you?

Congrats on your 1-pound loss over your vacation which also included the holidays! That's fantastic! I've been doing workout videos at home the last few days and I have found I like them. Didn't think I would, but I figured I'd give em a try during the winter for sure. No excuses for me since I'm not working right now, but getting out in cold weather to work out is not appealing. I should have taken a walk today but just got busy doing other things and then it was dark. I've still got to get busy and do my workout!

Here's to finding something that works for you!

The winter months are not exercise friendly if you work and get home after dark, unless you belong to a gym. Exercsing in a gym is not the same as fresh air and the sound of your feet hitting the pavement. Thank god for Saturdays and Sundays.

Planning for success is a must; it doesn't just happen. I remember the wacky schedule of being a teacher--and it does present challenges! But your health and well-being are worth finding the time (wherever you can squeeze it in, and however you break it up) to exercise regularly, even for small amounts of time, especially to start. As it becomes more of a habit and you come to enjoy the sensation of greater strength, stamina and flexibility, you will be inspired to do it more--because it can feel so good as you get used to it.
