Proof I need to see

Friday, January 06, 2012

I think I'm doing pretty well on my Veggie Acclimatization Program. So far this week, I've had a salad for lunch 3 days in a row. Granted, my salad is just either baby spinach or romaine lettuce with some light ranch dressing and bacon bits, but that's a phenomenal start for me.

And I needed to take a picture, just for perspective.

At work, there are snack landmines everywhere. One I frequently trip on is a dish in the lunchroom that has these peanut butter filled pretzel nugget things. I figure one serving is 8 nuggets at 140 calories and that really isn't so bad if I pace myself.

But then I compare those pretzel nuggets to vegetables.

That's about 2 oz of romaine lettuce on the left, a little bit less since I already had a few bites. And at roughly the same calorie content, is the ONE pretzel nugget on the right.

Gee, what looks more filling to you???

This is an excellent example of why I need to keep working on improving my relationship with vegetables.

I wondered what that brown thing was! It is the caloric equivalent to all that lettuce! That was a very interesting exercise you did. Thanks for the perspective!
