Cleaning and Commercials, Hee Hee :o))

Saturday, January 07, 2012

I am cleaning my house and having a good time too,
But I stop once in a while to watch T.V. and maybe a commercial or two.

I clean a little while, and take a little break,
After a while, I might fix me a steak.

I like the breaks and watching T.V.
Some things on there, give me a 'Hee Hee.'

Oh My Gosh, there's a commercial for a candy bar,
I can run to the store and get one..... it's not that far.

Why do they do that on my T.V.?
All of those things I really don't need to see.

Where's the commercials for Broccoli and Cauliflower?
They could do those at least once an hour.

Oh my goodness, there's another candy bar,
Don't they know that the store.....REALLY isn't that far?

Come on commercials, do the right thing,
Give me fruit and salads and other green things.

I've stopped my cleaning, just for today,
But I don't want to watch commercials, NO WAY.

Visions of candy bars dance in my head,
As prepare myself, for a night in my bed.

Yup. I snack more at night when I watch those TV food ads. And I find myself putting some of those foods on my grocery list. The power of suggestion is, well, powerful!

Cute poem. I have to send this to my daughter. I like to record the shows I want to see, so I can fast forward thru the commercials. It saves face and time. lol

That's why I like to tape my shows and then fast forward thru the commercials...they do WAY TO GOOD at suggesting food I don't want and need until I see the commercials! As always, cute poem. Hugs.......vista emoticon

Did you ever notice that the daytime shows show more mature commercials and the evening ones show more geared toward younger people. The Golden Girls have AARP and Everybody Loves Raymond has Jeep... they gear these things to whomever they know is watching the shows. Not to mention they are twice as loud as the show you were watching, just in case you had to potty... you can hear it from there.
My Nanny (grandmother) and her sister live together and they mute the commercials. I find that great!!

Good for you. You didn't give in and eat a candy bar.
When are you going to publish some blogs?

My father used to tell me the story of why broadcast TV was forbidden to watch people actually drink alcohol in commercials. Seems Jack Whitaker did a beer commercial where he took a long, pull on a cold mug of beer, and it was considered so irresistible that they banned it. And yet the trigger for food isn't watching someone eat it, it's just the treat itself. Why is the beer can just an ad, but the cupcake or candy bar is hard to watch? Amazing. At least while you were cleaning you were actually exercising. And, I hope, smiling.
