Its about time that I write another blog. I have not written one since August. I also decided about a week before the end of 2011 that its about time I deal with this weight issue once and for all. How many times do we need to keep doing the same thing expecting different results! So, I sat down and wrote out my own game plan.

I really want to continue tracking my intake of food and drink. I got away from it when I had my knee replacement in October and after being in an in-patient facility for rehab for two weeks, the habit I had developed with tracking went poof! So, I am now back on track in recording my intake and staying within my calorie range. This is vital as we all know.

Also, I need to increase my intake of veggies and fruits. I tend to fall short here. I am good on my protein intake but veggies and fruits need to become a bigger part of my life. Of course it goes without saying that water is vital to life. I meet my water requirements. I also have given up french fries except for once in awhile. It really was no problem at all to give them up. I really thought I would have a hard time but no. So that surprised me.

I am exercising at least 30 minutes most days. Don't forget to count your housework as exercise. We don't need to complete a marathon. You walk your way to one. I realized I may not be able to run like I did when I was young but I do walk and I can work up to power walking and that will help me succeed.

I also decided when writing my game plan that I need to do at least one thing each day to work towards my goals. I am not just talking about weight loss goals but spiritual goals, financial goals and the bucket list. Just do ONE thing each day towards your goals. You can do it by making it a priority and staying focused on your goals. WE can do this and I have decided that 2012 is going to my year that I meet the goals that I have set up for 2012. Because in 2013 I will have new goals to meet. When Abraham Maslow developed his hierarchy of needs self actualization was the last one and I truly believe we can work towards that every day.

My spiritual beliefs are such that I believe that my body is a temple and that the Holy Spirit resides in me. Whatever your beliefs are, we need to treat our body with respect and self compassion. When we eat that cupcake or go over our calorie limit we need to treat ourselves with compassion and not condemnation. Condemnation only breeds more condemnation and we do not want that kind of negativity in our thoughts.

We truly are what we think and if our thinking is not positive then our thinking needs to change. On Spark we have a lot of support from our friends, team leaders and the challenges will get us where we need to go.

So as I have decided and hopefully you too, 2012 is going to be MY year. This is the year that I turn everything around and meet my weight loss goals. I also hope that 2012 is YOUR year too dear Spark friends. Lets do this for ourselves so we can "stay in health" as we age so we can do and accomplish the things that we want to do in this beautiful life.

I really enjoyed reading your well written blog. I was going to say you should blog more often but then I'd have to take my own advice. I sure hope it's ok but I added you as a friend. I'm from CA myself and have a lot of weight to lose. I also need 2 knee replacements and I'd be interested in any suggestions or ideas you have on that. It sounds like you are active which I want to be again but with 2 bad knees it's hard to even walk much. Take good care and God Bless.

Fellow Virginian.... loved your post. I'm on the "road" traveling in the same direction - with the help of SparkPeople.com and a "losing to live" group at church. Finding the slowness of losing ..... a little irritating ..... but one of those God ordained things that helps produce patience and perseverance... Dear June,
You may not have written a blog since August, but this one is better than anything that you could have written in the time between blogs. Your thoughts and actions are truly beautiful, just like the woman that you are. Thank you for sharing these thoughts and I will be here rooting you on every step of the way. My friend, 2012 is definitely your year! emoticon
