Something to this exercise thing!

Okay....to be honest it's only my second day of real exercise since I got back on track here at SparkPeople. However, it's nice to have a routine again. I've been eating the right foods, we don't purchase refined foods, eat fresh/organic, I cut out coffee, I don't drink soda and limit my alcohol. But I wasn't exercising so my weight has been in a holding pattern for several months.
On Friday I discovered just how out of shape I really am. The department I work in volunteered at the Zoo. We spent nearly 4 hours raking and picking up leaves and debris. After hour number four my back, legs and arms were very sore. I could barely make it up a flight of stairs. And I felt the effects for the next two days.
On Sunday I decided that was it. I'm not going to feel like this anymore. I need to get up off of my butt and get to work. While my husband hit the gym, I hit our extra room and worked out for 40 minutes. A Toning Ball DVD that I bought when I was on Jenny Craig. It kicked my fanny up one side and down the other. So much so that I over slept both Monday and today. And I was supposed to get up this morning and do another workout.
So I cut my lunch short today and so I could leave early. I was able to get a 10 minute walk in this afternoon so I could run an errand. Once I got home I started dinner and did the Toning Ball DVD again. Another thirty minutes of exercise for a grand total of forty minutes today. Yay me.
I'm tired but exhilarated. It's not that I don't like exercise, I just don't like the gym. Even the cool local gym I go to drives me up the wall. But I do enjoy working out in the privacy of my own home. When I go to the gym, I tend to over do it in a bad way. But at home, I go at my own pace and after a workout I feel relaxed, sore and satisfied.
I just ordered two new DVD's, one cardio and one yoga. My desire is to have a decent selection of workouts to keep me interested and motivated to work out every day.
So that's it for today's journal entry. Over and out.
