Snow Days...

Thursday, January 19, 2012

...apparently they mean "all bets are off" days.

I live in Seattle and right now, it's an atypically snowy/icy mess. I was able to make it to work on Monday and Tuesday, but I had to leave early both days because of the weather and I've been working from home the past two days. My gym is at work so I haven't worked out all week. And I don't know if it's this feeling of having my schedule turned inside out or what, but I'm eating horribly.

No veggies. No fruits. Not drinking enough water. Drinking diet soda. Lots of carbs. I'm sure I'm at least 500 calories over my budget every day this week. Am I really this incapable of handling change?

It doesn't help that I needed to get groceries BEFORE the storm hit-my veggies are all mushy and I had to toss them out. The only store within blizzard walking distance is a mini-mart so at least I've gotten plenty of Doritos lately. :-(

Apparently I need the structure of working in my office and having my gym downstairs to keep me on track. Without that, it's like I'm using the storm as an excuse to pretend I'm a bear about ready to hibernate, doing everything I can to build up a fat layer to keep me fed while I sleep.

I hope things will warm up enough around here so that I can safely get my car to work tomorrow and I can use the gym and get some fresh veggies at the store...

I was wondering how you were faring in the snow. I am sure you would still be in your calorie range if your cabinets were stocked with the right things but honestly, it's hard to keep a stockpile of fresh fruits and veggies, especially just being one person. I usually go to the store once a week to buy perishables. But I do keep some frozen veggies on hand but not a big variety of it; and I do not like frozen fruit at all, unless it is in popsicle form :) I bet you could find some exercise you could do at home on SP "Fitness". I've done some of the exercises on there and they get you "feeling it"! I hope the snow melts soon for you so you can resume your schedule! Hang tough and enjoy some daytime t.v. for me :)
