This is my report on "The Beautiful and Damned" by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
This is an early novel (1922) by Fitzgerald. It is about a young man who gets married and is waiting impatiently for his Grandfather to die so he can inherit an incredible amount of money.
Anthony Patch graduates from Harvard and then doesn't want to work.
He and his young wife live on his limited income from bonds.
They party and have a great time even when Prohibition becomes law.
The book is a little slow until Anthony is drafted during WW1.
He spends his time in the States.
Anthony gets in trouble trying to support a young woman, he met on a pass.eanwhile his wife is faithful back home in New York.
When Anthony's Grandfther dies, the will disinherits Anthony because of his high living and his Grandfather being a Prohibitionist.
Anthony becomes more of a falling down drunkard as the couple keep spending their bonds to support their high life style and eventually become poor.
This book is aprapo today with people living beyond their means and hoping to win the lottery.
