January Recap and Reflection and Plans for February 2012

In the year of 2012 - I made a lot of promises to myself - and if I can't keep a promise to myself, how can I make the claim that I am an honorable, trustworthy, and dependable individual? I can't! So - I am making it a trend to set new, small goals for each month, reflect on celebrations from the previous month and identify what sorts of things I need to improve on in the current month.

With that being said, let's reflect on the goals I made for 2012 vs. the goals that I met in the month of January:

emoticon Be an active member in the BLC #13 - Purple Ninja Team --> I try and stay active as possible, I post my weight every week in the weigh in forums and try and talk up my team members and encourage them as often as possible. I also try and make it a goal to complete as many challenges as I can. emoticon

emoticon Train for the Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run in April --> I’m on track with my training plan and am logging in about 5 runs a week! emoticon

emoticon Sign up for a Half Marathon and start training --> I am happy to announce that I did sign up for a half-marathon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Team in Training program (will blog about this later) and will be running a Half Marathon in San Diego, CA in JUNE!!! I will be training for this and the 10-mile run at the same time and start adding more mileage for this run after my 10-mile race is over! emoticon

emoticon Lose 75lbs in 2012 (or at LEAST 6.25 lbs/ month) --> Went from 234.4lbs at the beginning of January to 221.6lbs on January 31st – lost a total of 12.8lbs (almost double my goal) in the month of January (now I only have 62.2lbs left to lose in 2012!) emoticon

emoticon Drink LOTS of water, on avg. 8 cups a day which comes out to about 248 cups in January emoticon --> Drank 261 cups of pure water in January emoticon

emoticon Burn 3,000-5,000 calories a week OR 12,000-20,000 calories a month --> Burned 12,328 calories in January (probably would have burned more if I had started working out the first week of January – but I waited and lost some time) emoticon

emoticon Workout for at least an hour every day --> I worked out for at least an hour for 22 days out of 31 days in January emoticon

emoticon Log at LEAST 1500 Fitness Minutes each month --> Logged 1,461 Fitness Minutes in January (so close – but as I mentioned before, I didn’t start until the second week of January) emoticon

emoticon It is also worth mentioning that I logged 52.94 miles in January through walking or running. emoticon

Not so bad in January – but could use a little bit of tweaking, polishing and improvement in February. So my February goals are:

emoticon Continue participating in BLC 13 – Purple Ninjas Challenges and Support more (and new) teammates! emoticon
emoticon Continue training for Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run (and the Half Marathon in June) 5 days a week emoticon
emoticon Sign up and run the George Washington Birthday Classic 10K Race in Alexandria, VA emoticon
emoticon Lose 8-10 lbs emoticon
emoticon Drink AT LEAST 8 cups water/ day = 232 cups emoticon
emoticon Log AT LEAST 1500 fitness minutes (but shoot for MORE!) emoticon
emoticon Burn 13,000+ calories this month emoticon
emoticon Workout for AT LEAST an hour each day emoticon
emoticon Walk/ Run AT LEAST 60 miles this month emoticon
emoticon Make some major headway on packing (you are moving in MARCH!!!) emoticon
emoticon Really make it a goal to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. It is SO important for recovery from those long and grueling training runs! emoticon

P.S. Did I mention my work pants are way too big on me? When did that happen?
