An Interesting Fact on Spark
Tuesday, March 20, 2012
When I was signing in to Sparkpeople today, I found a very interesting fact that they posted on the home page.
It states that "members active for 6 weeks who tracked weight online reported average loss of 9.1 pounds. "
WOW...really? Thinking about that made me stop and think. How did I do here on Spark, YEARS ago, when I first joined and started tracking? I bet I met that statistic- because I came here with a job to do. I was motivated and had a plan...I just needed a site to support me and give me a place to keep it all under control- kind of a "home base" for my plan of attack!
And then, I got distracted at Spark and in life. I still had fun on the site- made tons of friends- had so many laughs...but stopped with the tracking, the goals, the determination. Well, I want to try to see what I can do if I start using my time to get back to suing the site to really help me. There is so much great info, and so many great people to learn from! I am feeling empowered these days and have already worked to get back on track after a big fall off my plan last month...so let's just see what I can do in 6 weeks!
The best thing about Spark is that it was here, ready for me when I was ready for it! I have not been on here as much as I would like, and I probably won't be around much more than I have been....but all the tools are here and in place for me to use them as I wish. I remember all the good habits I established when I used this website and all it has to offer....so I will do that again. I remember the joy of getting a trophy on my page because I did my exercise! I loved being able to go back and look over my food diary. And I really loved tracking my weight loss and measurements as things were moving in the right direction! And I don't know where I would have been if it weren't for the love and care of my friends here...and from the generosity of people who I visited at times just to read their story, or to ask them a question.
I just was so taken by that statistic on the front page.....that really gives me the inspiration to remember success is possible....and using this amazing tool to track my journey will get me there...after I do the work and stick to the plan and have something to track, of course!
Are you living up to...or close to...that stat? Just something to think about.... If not...what can YOU do, that the people quoted, do...to get closer? We are all different and go at our own pace, but I think it is a question worth pondering! I know it made me think!
