Grand-daughter's stage performance DANCE SCAPA
Friday, March 23, 2012
You can tell this is written by a proud grandmother. Oh, well. Anne Elizabeth has been dancing since she was not quite 3. She is now 10 and just danced on the stage where the "professionals" dance. This year she got in SCAPA, which is a School for Creative And Performing Arts. They go by the same educational standards as all Kentucky Schools, but it seems like they hold their students to a little higher standards than they are required to. However, their day is a little longer than the regular public schools. Each student auditions for a place in the school. They have a major and a minor. These include ballet, jazz or modern dance, creative writing, drama, vocal, instruments, and I think art. Anne ELizabeth's major is ballet and her minor is orchestra. She chose to play the cello. Last year I think there was 200 ballet auditions and they could only take 6. Somehow she made it into the school and loves it. She is constantly dancing rarely stops
She has been in recitals for the past 6 years and in the studio's drama/musical production since they started the productions. I think there has been 5 or 6 of those. But to her this is the biggest yet because it was held at the local
al Opera House.
This one is from her butterfly class dance
The lighting was not good for picture taking
She was fixing her shoe before going out for the last dance
Whenever she is on stage she will look at us wink and give a tiny wave. My youngest daughter told her when she started doing the productions that she had to do that, So she does.
She always gets flowers.
Now you can see the proud grandmother. We always have our picture together after the show.
