What a beautiful day!

Friday, March 23, 2012

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary today by going out to the movies and a lunch (he took the day off work) while my aunt watched Joy for us.

Finances are a little tight these days, so this was a splurge for us. We planned on going to the first showing of the day of Hunger Games so we could get a special price for doing so. It ended up being $6 a ticket. My parents sent us a card in the mail yesterday with a $25 check in it and told us to see a movie on them and hold hands. So I guess the movie was on them, and we did obey and hold hands. I also get weekly emails from the local theater, and I took advantage of one to get a free small drink with the purchase of a popcorn. I paid to upgrade the drink and get a collector's edition Hunger Games cup, so we ended up paying $7.50 for the drink and popcorn.

After the movie ended we went to the Mongolian Grill at the mall and enjoyed a big, delicious lunch. I don't know how to really track my calories from that, but I like to think I made some good choices with my food there, and I only drank water. But I knew I should've stopped eating before I finished, as I was full. However, I saw a sign the restaurant had posted saying to please try not to waste food, and so I felt guilty and tried to finish off my plate. At least I was full enough not to really need a full meal for dinner!

And because I was feeling so full, as was my husband, I told him we were going to go for a walk. We picked Joy up from my aunt's and took her to the boardwalk of a local beach, where we walked approximately 1 mile while enjoying the scenery and some conversation.

I hope this nice weather sticks around through the weekend at least! There has been too much rain around here, keeping me inside much more than I'd like to be!

I think you wrote a wonderful blog about what love is really like. It isn't about expensive gifts to each other, but about making the other person feel special and to know how much you mean to them.

Congratulations on your anniversary! It sounds like you had a nice time with your husband and daughter. Hunger Games is on my list, as well.

It's decent. I want to see it again. There are some changes and omissions from the book, but it was still good. Worth seeing.

This is what a good marriage is all about, it doesn't matter how much money you have just how much love you have for one another. The time you spent together today was special, it's days like this that really let you know that your with the right person even if times are a little tough.
Money is tight for us too and it's just the little things that mean so much to us that I'm sure people who have all the money in the world just take for granted.
I'm glad you had a nice day with your hubby, not many men would take off a day from work to spend it with the wife going to a movie and holding hands... I'm glad you've been blessed with such a wonderful man, they are very rare!
I'm glad we both were able to find wonderful men to share special moments with and treasure!
    God Bless! emoticon
