i'm hanging onto a weight plateau ... it's driving me crazy ... it makes me want to eat cookies .... cause if i'm not going to lose weight anyways, can't i have cookies?

um .. cookies are a metaphor, i guess ... for all the non healthful food i have been avoiding, ignoring, skipping ....

however.... in spite of wanting to eat cookies in the face of a plateau, i have been making positive strides elsewhere ... like in my 5k my way ... i am on week four day three of a five week program ... so almost done ... four more runs til done ... my next run is tuesday ... i'm doing 3 miles in 35 minutes... with some walking, but not tons ...

and ... i joined the spring into shape challenge ... doing a ten minute strenght exercise is the challenging bit for me ... i can do the cardio bit of the challenge easily, and have been for 8 weeks now ....i think in 8 weeks i have not had 8 cardio-less days ... most weeks i don't take a cardio day off ... my fitness minutes make me proud ....

i'm hoping the strenght training that i've been a bit negligent about, will be the trick to bust up this plateau ....

stay tuned ... but i guess that's how all spark people are ... stay tuned to hear the stories .... cause there's always more to the story ....

    Keep making good choices and the weight will lose it's battle to hang on. It always gives up when you keep doing the right things.

    One of the ladies at the food shelf I volunteer at used to be a personal trainer. When I mentioned my plateau, she had two suggestions. One is to double your protein for the day. She said sometimes people need to considerably up their fat for a day. This supposed to surprise your body and get your metabolism started. She suggested only doing it when you have hit a plateau but said some do it weekly. I don't know if it was coincidence; but, that week I had one day that was higher calorie, high proteins and higher fat. The next week I was down over 3 pounds. I have read about calorie cycling and have now decided the my weigh-in days I am purposely going to have a high calorie day (2000-2100 calories vs 1200-1550 normally). I hope to keep my body guessing that way. Just a thought!

    Regardless, the scale will catch up eventually. Hang in there!

    I am in a rut with my weight, I feel great, I get compliments but
    not moving the scale. I wont give up...so please dont you give up either. emoticon
