Migraine Associated Vertigo and trying to get in shape
Tuesday, May 08, 2012
I am just starting to spark again after many losses in my life and a new illness to deal with.
I started having lots of problems with motion and dizziness beginning last August, especially when I was driving or when I am a passenger in the car. I have not been able to drive since then and have been extremely isolated because of this. I have been to many doctors and have had many tests done. I have not had a definitive diagnosis as of yet, but most likely it is migraine associated vertigo with visual and motion dizziness. This whole mess started when I started menopause and is most likely what triggered this disorder for me.
My medical group is currently working on a referral to a specialist at UCLA, but it will probably take months to get in. I am also doing something called vestibular rehab therapy right now, which hasn't helped so far. I have also tried 5 medications since last year and none of those have helped and caused horrible side effects, so I went off of them.
I have lots of time to exercise and plan meals, but most days end up feeling unmotivated and very alone.
Any advice or ideas are welcome.
