YIKES!!! I forgot to post last week's update/ results! OOOPSY!!!

Limit sugar to 8% of daily caloric intake.

OK...so this was WAY harder than I anticipated. Not because of keeping sugar intake down, but holy crap, calculating it was a nightmare! VAMANOS, I am sure can attest! So although I failed, I only failed because I gave up trying to calculate. My sugar intake was SUPER low all week though!

Lose 1 pound. emoticon

Weighed in at 173.4lbs on May 2nd- end of week 5

Weighed in at 172.4 May9th- end of week 6.

That's another pound down!! emoticon

As I suspected at the end of week 5, things were slowing down.

Do 210 crunches this week, approx 30/day.

I didn't even do 1!!!!! emoticon

I can't even say why...I have no clue...other than I forgot until Monday and then seriously, just didn't make the time.

I did do a lot of yard work, hooping and walking last week though.

Lose 1 pound.

I GAINED!!!! emoticon

Weighed in at 172.4lbs on May th- end of week 6

Weighed in at 173.0 May16th- end of week 7.

I went up .6 of a lb!

Not cool!!

Week 8 challenge: Eat 3 vegetarian meals this week.

THIS challenge will be done! I already had one for lunch...1 down, 2 to go!

I am also going to get those damn crunches in, if it kills me!

Send me positive vibes, people...I need to get back on track!!!

    I am ringing in on focusing on the positives and not using words like 'failed' - drop that from your vocabulary and concentrate on the strides and progress you've made!!

    As many who have commented have said, the language you used makes a big difference. Failed is such a strong word, and can have effects on your subconscious that you don't even realize. Of course it's important to analyze where you didn't meet your goals and see why, and determine whether it's a goal you want to continue to strive for.

    Although I don't post very much, I wanted to let you know that by viewing the above as failures, you are defeating any of the strides that you have made previously. Perhaps just picking one challenge and keep trying it until you feel you have gained "success" would be the way to go. You have accomplished such a lot in a small time, it is time to start thinking in the "half glass full" arena versus the "half glass empty" vortex of negativity.

    As someone who has reached many plateaus throughout the year, my suggestion would be to really mix it up exercise wise -- the hooping is a great start.....after 6 weeks or so our bodies get accustomed to the same exercise routine, therefore, even by changing the days that you workout and times can kickstart it. I find cycling to be a great sport to mix it up especially since the Parkway is open for cycling every Sunday from 9 to 1 here in Ottawa. If you have a Wii Fit -- the boxing rocks! Great fat burner

    Look at the amount of protein that you are eating.....never eat carbs alone -- always with protein. Eating an orange in the morning will boost your metabolism by 18% and have your protein shake right after exercise if you can. Also when your activity increases you need to increase what you eat for breakfast but no drive thru stuff. 2 pieces of fruit, Kashi, protein shake you should be good to go

    Anyway all of the unsolicited advice is based on my own personal experience. Hope it helps!

    Count me in for those two big FAILED challenges as well. Between the calculation nightmare on the sugar and no time to do crunches while out of town and/or working, I just didn't even start. So is today the beginning of the eat three vegetarian meals week? That I can do! Breakfast is almost always vegetarian, and lunch was today. I'll do up a vegetarian dinner for tomorrow or Friday, as well as another vegetarian lunch...I have junjab eggplant and naan to take to work tomorrow. Nummy! More of this kind, please!!!

    Hey Annie,,, I tend to agree with Blue42Down,,,, you need a smaller FAILED,,, and a bigger GOAL MET! Don't be so hard on yourself,,,, emoticon You are doing pretty well at losing weight and changing your lifestyle,,, you are trying different things ,,, like the vegetarian meals,,,, and going up .6 of a pound could be water weight/normal body flux... come on girly,,,,, Look up and celebrate all that you have done,,,, don't be so hard on my friend!!!!

    Hehe, the biggest thing I can say is you need a much smaller FAILED and a much bigger GOAL MET!

    Think a little on what it takes to get those crunches in - or, more precisely, the usual reasons you can't at the times you do think of it. If you can have the time planned and the space set up, for example, the excuses of the floor being too hard and other things needing to be done can be overcome before they even come up.
