Any of you out there have a Heart Rate Monitor? I've been looking into buying a used one through kijiji, but am just not sure which to go for. Garmin? Polar? any ideas? I would love to have one to track my runs, but really I'd love it to see how many calories each workout burns! I have SVT (supra ventricular tachycardia) which is basically like a circuit problem in my heart. It's not life threatening, and the worst thing that happens to me is that sometimes my heart beats like crazy and won't stop until I do a specific breathing technique or wait it out till it stops on its own. It's like the blood in the heart is going through a circuit... but then my circuit changes and the blood goes in the wrong direction.. which causes the intense beating and the 230+ heartrate. SO, when I exercise.. my HR tends to be on the higher end... meaning the calories burned on the treadmill are likely NOT accurate at all, and for me especially. Kinda hard to tell if I'm working out enough to see any weight loss right? I think an HRM would help me with this...

Anyways, yesterday was a pretty successful day. I say this even though I had pizza for dinner and ice cream for dessert! I tracked the pizza BEFORE I ate it, and had a kiddie cone from mcdonalds (45 calories.. seriously??) so I was well within my calorie, fat, carbs, and fiber for the day! I also spent 30 mins on the treadmill and did some ST for my legs!

Today, I'm going back to the gym to do 25-30 mins on the elliptical and then focusing 15-20 mins on ab work!

    My heart beats rapidly sometimes and I have to do breathing exercises too! But I was never diagnosed. how did you find out? Does it sometimes happen randomly while you sleep as well?

    On a different side note, I use a cheap heart rate monitor from walmart that costs around 20 dollars. Once and awhile it will not work and then I have to get a new one but that is like every other year. Overall, I love it. It is very basic and simple and reads heart rate and calories burned as well as time.

    I have had both Polar and Garmin...
    I still have my Garmin and LOVE it!! Didn't like my Polar and it didn't last all that long.
