A few steps back is NOT quitting

No, I did not quit. No, I did not give up. But did I slow down? Yes. Did I take a few steps back? Yes. Did I slide? Yes. Did the world end? No emoticon
emoticon if you don't fight him, he's not all that scary.
So, this is all about MORE, not less.
More happiness, more joy, more power, more strength, more confidence, more miles, more pulls and pushes, more energy, more flexibility, more challenges, more dreams, more love, more possibilities, more good food choices, more, more, more!
I've stopped fighting. Sure, I am stronger than chocolate and cakes. No doubt. But I like them. So I make room for them too, alongside mangoes and grapes, broccoli and peas.
I am stronger than my DVDs. But I like them too. So I use my "double relaxation method" and get the best of both worlds.
This is about getting more of the good stuff. And there's no "bad stuff", not really. Unless you make it so.
This is also about getting there slowly. I've always liked emoticon, lucky me.
My initial goal was 59 kgs by the end of July. Well, that's not happening. Maybe by the end of the year. Or maybe not. I don't really care, as long as I keep on getting "more". I want strong, not skinny. I want fit, not frustrated. I want healthy and happy.

    I loved this blog! You're absolutely right - it doesn't matter how long it takes because you ARE making progress and learning everyday.
    Just like you, I made room for chocolate by incorporating smart chocolate recipes.
    But nowadays, believe it or not, with all the sweet fruit full of nutrients I'm eating, I don't crave it at all. It's been almost 3 weeks and I just don't miss it. I still like it of course but I don't 'need' it.
    Time is wonderful! Go, Yiwen, go!

    Great blog! You will succeed at your own pace. Sometimes we set goals and when we don't reach them we get all bent out of shape. There are many other victories we have other than the weight on a scale. Keep doing all the good things and you'll get to where you want to be.     Very wise, indeed!! I agree, you need to enjoy this journey!! Otherwise, you will eventually burn out and no one wants to do that. I see great success in your future, dear Eve. Maybe it will take a little longer, but that is just fine.

    that is totally and completely correct. the hard part of maintaining for me is precisely figuring out just how much slack to cut myself ... how often i can have a treat (in a reasonable quantity) without creating problems ... because damn it, i like food and treats. i like strawberries a lot , and in season we eat them 3-7 times a week, with just a tiny bit of sugar if necessary. but once or twice a year in a shortcake or fraisier, and another time or two with chantilly is really nice -- and ok. have a great summer and yell if you're in the neighborhood!

    That is a great attitude! I feel the same anymore! Sometimes you can just push yourself too much and just get overwhelmed! I have had that happen to me and have done the same-pulled back a bit. Just keeping on track, enjoying life, eating healthier, exercising and the pounds and inches lost are a big bonus! I know I will get there, slowly but surely!     If we don't have some time to slack periodically, we'll quit. Or we'll go crazy at the end. I fully believe that. Sliding back a bit isn't too a big deal, especially when the payoff is worth it, and it's definitely got giving up. I plan to do the same later this summer when I'm at my in-law's house for two weeks. I'll need it right about that time, and I will be happy to take that time for myself. Not going to beat myself up, and I'm glad you're not beating yourself up either. :)
