Making the Most of the Week

Monday, June 11, 2012

I am having surgery on my ankle this Friday. No big deal really; I broke my ankle 5 years ago and the doc put in a plate and five screws. Well, now two of the screws are starting to poke out and are causing problems.

So...I've got four days this week to rack up the exercise before I am out of commission for a week or more. Today TC and I walked 7 miles. It's great to have that out of the way by 8:30 a.m.!

I've stumbled on my goal to lose 5 pounds each month, but I'm still hoping to see 150 by the end of June. My ultimate goal is to be around 140 by the time we leave for China in mid-September.

It's funny; when I went from 180 to 160 I felt super-svelte at my new weight. Now that I've been holding at 154-155 for awhile I feel fat again. How weird is that? But I definitely feel the need to kick it up and lose the next five pounds.

Also, no word from my daughter yet on the possible pregnancy. I'm hoping it's not bad news because I know she'll be devastated.

Off the dentist now! Have a wonderful Monday, fellow Sparkies!

I'll be be keeping you in my prayers for the surgery. It is strange that sometimes we cannot see ourselves as we really are. One thing I love about you is your spunk. You face adversity and work your way around it.

Best to you on the surgery. I like TIMG's ideas about upper body and/or chair exercises to help you keep the great momentum you have going. Keeping you and your daughter in good thoughts!

I love when I get my exercise out of the way first thing in the AM. It sets the tone for the entire day! I find that I make healthier choices throughout the day.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and saying a prayer for your daughter. I hope everything goes well.

Will you be able to do upper body exercises after your surgery? What about Coach Nicole's chair workouts?

    Best of luck with everything!

Good luck with the ankle surgery!

I know what you mean about the weight. For years, I would have killed to be 125 and I was thrilled when I got there, but approaching that weight from the other side, was unpleasant. It sounds petty to complain about (and I'd never complain about the number itself), but you do feel a couple extra pounds. For me, it was about proportion; I'd really built up my muscles on my legs and arms, so the little bit of flab left in the belly area was a lot more noticable at a lower weight than it was at a slightly higher weight where I felt a little more spread out.

I was trying to explain to a friend the other day that it wasn't the number on the scale itself, it was how my body felt. It might seem like micromanaging, but you get to know your body and even a small change will feel slightly 'off'.
