Try, Try, Try again!

Hi All,

First, I hope everyone is having a great summer, in best health, and doing great on your weight-loss journey! I have to say, "It happened again, I fell off the wagon." I'm not happy to say that, but I am happy to be back on it. Last year in the fall, I was accepted in an RN program something I had been working towards for a decade (off/on). A lot of the time outside of the hospital is studying (sitting in the library), and on top of that I was eating out a lot. About a year and a half ago I developed HTN and because of the lack of exercise and unhealthy eating it had gotten worse. I started to think how can I tell my patients how to have healthy habits when I'm not doing what I say. Of course that was not enough to make a big change..... Around the end of May (this year) I went to the doctors and I had to increase my meds and at that time I realized I want to make a change. I want to be here for my kids and eventually their kids, I want to be a good example for my patients, but most of all I want to be healthy! So on June 1st I started walking 3-4 miles Monday - Friday. I go walking around a high school track. First I started to walk, the following week I added light jogging on the long part of the oval, the last 2 weeks of the month I started walking 3 miles and for every 10/12 laps I did I ran up the bleachers. I'm so very happy that I have done this for a month and plan on continuing until I go back to school (At which point I have to figure out another exercise plan); however, I have not changed my eating habits and it has really hurt my journey. I went to the doctors and found out I lost 4lbs. and that is HUGE for me and made me so very happy, but I couldn't help but think that if I had been making better eating habits it could have been more of a weight-loss. The fact that I could have lost another pound or two is now my motivation to make better eating choices because who doesn't want to see a bigger drop on the scale. I'm just going to try, try, try again! emoticon

I'm so happy when it comes to our weight-loss journey it's not a one time only win or lose, we can always try again when we fall off the wagon. Everyday is another chance for us to do better. I vow not to dwell on the past bad choices I have made, but to remember I will make a good choice the next time. I will not give up on myself this time. I want to be healthy!

Take care and until next time Keep up all of your great work!! WE CAN DO THIS! emoticon emoticon emoticon
