Feelings of dread...

Well I am feeling a bit of dread when it comes to what is going to happen next week on tuesday...I am having my knee surgery and I am having mixed feelings about it... I am happy that it is going to be done because then I will be more mobel but in alot of pain, but on the other hand I am scared to have my knee opened and all... Then when that is done I am going to have a bone biopsy of my spine there is a mass there and they don't know what it is...a mass or a cyst or worst case cancer and that scares the begebes out of me... Well if everyone could send me happy thoughts and all there prayes that would help... Keep Spreading the Spark

Sometimes we need to confront our fears to move past them. If you think it will help, you can try writing down every fear you have, no matter how out there or scary it is. Then really look at it and know that your doctors are trained to handle anything on that list. Then burn the list (safely of course!). By burning it you can release those fears to the universe/God/angels/whatever you believe in and remind yourself that what is going to happen is going to happen - good or bad - and no amount of worrying will help it turn out better. Worrying could actually make it worse. You will probably still be apprehensive but keep reminding yourself that the doctors are trained for anything that can happen.

I've been in your place a few times. With my health issues I'm constantly terrified of what could happen or how much worse it's going to get, but I've realized I have to accept what is in my path and face it as it happens. When I get really scared I think through what the fear really is about then release it for the universe to handle. Worrying about the 'what ifs' is only going to use up energy that I could spend on something more productive.

Thank you for adding me as a friend.

I know that is probably not going to help you stop feeling anxious, but....I am a cancer registrar, which means that I am more knowledgeable about cancer than the average person, having had more training in how it originates, spreads and different treatments for it.

I can tell you that it is more likely to be a cyst rather than cancer. The treatment for the cyst (if it is at the bottom of the spine) is bothersome, but it has a beginning and an end to it! That's the good news! I personally helped a friend of mine treat his until it was healed....

Oh my. You put my bronchitis that was depressing me because I can't exercise, into its proper place. No big deal. I am hoping you get the knee surgery, then the mass just disappears. Maybe it's calcification on the spine from your alignment because of the knee. Let's hope it ends up to be that simple.
