I have been swimming and doing my own version of water aerobics without the aid of an instructor. I do most of the exercises I have learned in class on my own. Last week at a barbecue at our gym I met a gal from Oklahoma. We have started swimming together. We are the same age and have arthritis and she has osteoporosis...I might also. We both have pain issues and she will be spending winter in Montana for the first time.
She experiences the same changes when it rains or is colder. I am hoping it is not a severe winter...for her sake. I can handle it as I have lived in Wisconsin with cold and snow all winter. I prefer Montana where we at least have the winds blow in warm weather even in the middle of winter!!
And we have more sunshine than they do in the winter. (I am not trying to complain about Wisconsin...for all those out there that live there or were born there. I am older now and it is too hard to have snow on the ground all year round. And my arthritis would give me a bad time!! I was born there, too!!) Sad about the Packers loss last night! I am a Packer fan and will always be!!
Back to the title of my blog. The scale is moving down again. I am a regular at the gym and in the pool. I am enjoying feeling a little less pain and the hot tub! I am also enjoying my new friend. So nice to go to the gym with someone again.
I used to go to the YMCA with Bobbie and do water aerobics. Then after a couple years we started going at different times. Now I belong to a different gym closer to home. I no longer volunteer at PLUK where Bobbie is employed. I don't see her as much. We are still very good friends. We still enjoying doing things and shopping together...just don't do as much. She is busy with work and her husband. I am mentoring Peer to Peer once a week. She has wraparound, kid's group and bible study.
Not sure how she keeps it all straight!!
I have been eating good. Lots of fruits during the day and veggies with meals. Staying within my calories and fat allowance most days. I need to get some fish...haven't been eating much of that.
I think I will have tuna fish for lunch. That sounds really good.
And maybe I will have an apple with the sandwich.
I am getting a bountiful basket on Saturday. I have almost eaten all of the last one; just a few things left.
The lettuce is red leaf lettuce and goes great on salads! I also had broccoli, potatoes, leeks (made leek & potato soup), vine ripened tomatoes, bananas, peaches, plums, apples and more I am sure. Once I took a picture of what was in my basket. It was so much produce! And it is fresh...I love it.
Well, I have hit the food aspect; the exercise aspect and the emotional aspect...having a friend to exercise with is great for me!! Guess that is about it for this blog!!
Have an awesome week!
