Thankful for some things at Thanksgiving

Tuesday, October 09, 2012

I am going to paint a Thanksgiving picture here that some will find less than impressive. First, by the time dinner was prepared and served by me I was pretty exhausted. I made all my Thanksgiving favourites sides and desserts. So, let's just say my will was pretty weak. So the bad news is I went back for seconds. The good news is that my servings were not as huge as formerly and I stayed conscious about what I was eating. I also tried to pick more of the less fattening things. There were two desserts but I found I could only eat a smaller size of one. Today, the pumpkin cheesecake was calling my name. I finally gave in and had a piece but it was just a sliver. I am going to ask my family to finish the rest of it tonight.

This morning I had the traditional turkey hangover, like a truck had run over me. The last thing I wanted to do was exercise but I went to my Zumba class and shaked some of that dressing off!
I could have been better, I could have been so much worse.

All thinks considered, dear girl, you did a really good job.
Our journey is all about progress, not perfection, and you have certainly made progress from last year. My proverbial hat is off to you!! emoticon

A slither of pumpkin cheesecake and portion control exercised at Thanksgiving is no easy feat!!!! Not to mention you did Zumba post-turkey hangover!! You're setting the bar pretty high for the rest of us that will face this challenge next month. Excellent!!

Reffie, you did great. You made more conscious choices, you had smaller portions and you worked in a Zumba class. Thanksgiving isn't the easiest holiday to maintain healthy eating.

I am happy you had an enjoyable holiday!

I guess the absolute bottom line "I'm thankful for..." is we can all be thankful we're among the women who have the luxury of complaining about too much to eat.

Now: think about all the wonderul turkey casseroles you can make this winter with the leftover frozen meat! Personally, I'd be throwing some of it into a good butternut squash soup in the near future... emoticon
