Ten 'extra' pounds
Saturday, October 13, 2012
The other day at work I asked my boss, who is six months pregnant how she was feeling. She replied, "Not bad, but my feet ache, I think it's carrying around this extra ten pounds. It's exhausting."
"Ten pounds - exhausting!!" I wanted to shout. "Are you kidding?I carry around nearly 10 times that much aorund on my body every day of my life, ten pounds is nothing!"
Of course I didn't say anything, but it was a sobering moment for me. It underscored how much I need to get this weight off my body, to liberate myself from 90 pounds of fat. The only different between her 10 pounds and my 90 extra pounds is that I have become so used to lugging mine around that I don't conciously notice it. What will it feel like, I wonder to be 90 pounds lighter and have all that weight off my poor feet? If she feels ten pounds makes a difference, what difference will 90 pounds make?
