I just got a new app on my android phone called Cardio trainer. My favorite activity is walking. I walk all over the place and I credit walking for my weight loss success. Cardio Trainer is a great sidekick. Every day when I set off on my extra walking workout I let Cardio trainer know by selecting start workout. It tracks the the distance I go using GPS on my phone and the time I spent for the workout. As you walk or run you can see
* A map of your workout
* The running time you've spent
* The distance you've gone in miles and steps (estimated at 39" stride, you can enter your stride length for better accuracy)
* The calories you've expended
* Your average speed
* Your total climb (great if you are walking outside)
When you are finished it gives you a congratulatory message with your total calories expended and a translation to healthy food equivalent ( 4 oranges or 3 avocados). I was getting a little bored since there are so many paths you can walk during lunch when you work but this ap has put a little fire in my step and kept the activity fun. You can set it to automatically start running thru the music on your phone as soon as you start working out It also tracks many other types of activities. Best of all it was free!
